Above: In the picture is a Premium Female Fire Red Dwarf Gourami, swimming in one of our aquariums, when one of us snapped this picture.
Hey, looking at this picture, we can see that she's bulging and full of eggs. If you order one, it probably will not come bulging with eggs, because that might be dangerous for her.
But our DrTom got this one, before she was bulging, and fed her premium foods a few times a day, In about 6-weeks she was bulging.
You can do it too. Actually DrTom got three of them from us, and soon all of them were bulging.
DrTom's one male noticed they were bulging, and began building a bubble nest as fast as he could.
It's all so good, so interesting, and so very easy to do.
Comments: These are fabulous aquarium fish.
Origin: The ancestors of these Gouramis came from East Asia, but now they live in aquariums all over the world.
There are several species of Gouramis for sale in this store.
Maximum Size: In aquariums, Dwarf Gouramis can grow to be about 2" long.
Behaviors: Gouramis are usually not aggressive fish but from time to time males may become territorial and quarrel with each other.
Compatibility: Some recommended tank mates include, other Gouramis and community fish.

Temperature: Dwarf Gouramis live best from about 75 to 80-degrees F. with 78 being perhaps ideal.

Feeding: Premium Fish Food Flakes and Premium Fish Food Pellets are best to feed these fish.

Water Conditions: Dwarf Gouramis seem to be tolerant of a wide range of water conditions.
Probably a pH of about 7 with moderate hardness is best.
Most water in the US has a higher pH and is harder but seems to be OK, so it's probably best NOT to adjust the pH or the hardness of the water.
Here in our facilities the water is hard and the pH is usually about 7.8.
We ship them in this water.
Click here for a lot more information about aquarium water conditions.
Aquarium Size: Dwarf Gouramis can do well in a 20-gallon tank, but of course bigger is better.
Decor: Gouramis do not need gravel, and a layer of gravel more than 1/4" thick will usually fill with bits of uneaten food that will contaminate the water.
Click here for more about aquarium gravel.
Live plants are beautiful and improve the water quality.
Dwarf Gouramis love plants, and need floating plants to help strengthen their bubble nests, when they breed.
Aquarium Filter: Bio-Wheel Filters are highly recommended.
The Penguin 250B Filters will do well for a 20-30 gallon tank.

The addition of Lava Rocks will keep nitrates in the ideal range.

Life Span: Gouramis can live for several years.
Keep the water conditions excellent and feed them premium foods, and they may live even longer.
Gender: We usually sell the males and the females separately.
The males are usually larger and more colorful, and the females are usually smaller and not colorful.
Breeding: Male Dwarf Gouramis blow bubbles at the surface of the water among floating plants, creating a bubble-nest, which also indicates to the female that he's ready to breed.
They do a mating dance under the nest when ready, and she releases her eggs toward the surface, where the male fertilizes, guards and cleans them. All of our fish are Premium Quality Fish from the best suppliers in the world.
