Above: In this picture are two nice young male premium quality Golden White Clouds, jousting with each other in one of our aquariums, when one of us snapped this picture.
Comments: White Clouds of this quality are rarely seen in the live fish stores or in the online fish stores that we visit.
Premium Fish like these White Clouds are more energetic, more hardy, and more colorful than fish from other sources.
Origin: These White Clouds' ancestors lived on the slopes of White Cloud Mountain in China.
But this fish was born and raised on a famous fish farm.
This species has been produced by fish farmers for many years and now lives in aquariums all over the world.
Maximum Size: In aquariums White Clouds can grow to be about 1.5" long, and sometimes we see an old one that's had excellent care and been fed lots of premium fish food that's grown to be a little bit longer.
Behaviors: They quarrel and joust with each other, but they're very peaceful and seem to ignore most other species of fish.
Compatibility: Some recommended tank mates include fish like Danios, Ghost Glass Catfish, Pet Shrimps, small Rainbowfish, small Loaches, and small Gouramis.
Click here to read more about compatible groups of pet fish.
Temperature: White Clouds can live pretty well from about 60 to 80 degrees F., but they're probably most comfortable at about 70 degrees F.

Feeding: Premium Fish Food Flakes.

Water Conditions: White Clouds tolerate of a wide range of water conditions. Probably a pH of about 7 with moderate hardness is best.
Most water in the US has a higher pH and is harder but seems to be OK, so it's probably best NOT to adjust the pH or the hardness of the water.
Here in our facilities the water is hard and the pH is usually about 7.8. We ship them in this water.
Aquarium Size: This is a good fish for small aquariums like a 5-gallon aquarium with a Penguin 100B Filter.
But a bigger aquarium is always better for fish, and so we recommend at least a 15-gallon aquarium with the same filter.
Decor: White Clouds do not need gravel, and a layer of gravel more than 1/4" thick will usually fill with bits of uneaten food that will contaminate the water.
Click here for more about aquarium gravel.
Live Plants are beautiful, improve the water quality, and this species seems to greatly enjoy Live Plants.

Aquarium Filter: Bio-Wheel Filters are highly recommended.
A Penguin 100B Filter in an aquarium with 5 to 15-gallons is a good combination for this fish.

The addition of Lava Rocks will keep nitrates in the ideal range.

Life Span: White Clouds can live for a few years, maybe several years with excellent care, including excellent water and premium fish foods.
Gender: As they mature males get longer more pointed fins and much richer colors. As females mature, they fill with eggs and get plumper.
Breeding: this species is easy to breed.
A group with males and females will spawn regularly in an aquarium provided the water is of excellent quality, and they're fed plenty of premium food.
When spawning they scatter eggs about the aquarium.
Popularity: a very popular aquarium fish.
Names: This species' scientific name is Tanichthys albonubes.
Variations: there are several variations including Longfin White Clouds, Golden White Clouds, and Longfin Golden White Clouds.
