Comments: These are fabulous fish with a beautiful colors.
Origin: The ancestors of these Flagfish came from the Florida, but now they live in aquariums all over the world.
Maximum Size: In aquariums, Flagfish can grow to be about 2.5" long.
Behaviors: Flagfish are usually semi-aggressive fish.
Compatibility: Some recommended tank mates include, community fish and catfish such as a pleco.

Temperature: Flagfish live best from about 75 to 80-degrees F. with 78 being perhaps ideal.

Feeding: Premium Fish Food Flakes and Premium Fish Food Pellets are best to feed these fish.

Water Conditions: Flagfish seem to be tolerant of a wide range of water conditions.
Probably a pH of about 7 with moderate hardness is best.
Most water in the US seems to be OK, so it's probably best NOT to adjust the pH or the hardness of the water.
Here in our facilities the water is hard and the pH is usually about 7.8.

Aquarium Size: Flagfish can do well in a 10-gallon tank, but of course bigger is better.
Decor: Flagfish do not need gravel, and a layer of gravel more than 1/4" thick will usually fill with bits of uneaten food that will contaminate the water.

Life Span: Flagfish can live for several years.
Keep the water conditions excellent and feed them premium foods, and they may live even longer.
Gender: When mature, the female becomes more round and usually has a yellow coloration to it.
The male usually has a more ornate pattern on it's fins and has more of a olive coloration.
