Comments: These are Tadpoles that you rarely see in live fish stores.

Origin: This Tadpoles ancestors lived all over the world.
Maximum Size: In aquariums, this Tadpole often grows to be 4" long, but they will eventually turn into full sized Tadpoles.
Behaviors: They usually stay at the bottom of the tank, and have quite a personality.

Water Conditions: This Tadpole can tolerate a wide range of water conditions.
Probably a pH of about 7 with moderate hardness is best.
Most water in the US seems to be OK, so it's probably best NOT to adjust the pH or the hardness of the water.
Here in our facilities the water is hard and the pH is usually about 7.8. We ship them in this water.
Aquarium Size: These guys can do well living in a pond.
They are well adapted to aquariums of 20-gallons or larger, but they will eventually turn into full sized Tadpoles so they will need to be moved into a pond.
Decor: These Tadpoles do not need gravel, and a layer of gravel more than 1/4" thick will usually fill with bits of uneaten food that will contaminate the water.
Rocks, and out of water areas would be an excellent addition for these guys.

Live Plants are beautiful, improve the water quality.

The addition of Lava Rocks will keep nitrates in the ideal range.

Life Span: This Tadpole can live for a few years, but feeding them with premium will help them live longer and healthier.
As they grow into full sized Tadpoles, they won't depend too much on food but more on insects and other natural resources they may find in a pond environment.
Gender: As Tadpoles, it is impossible to tell the difference between males and females until they become full sized Tadpoles.
Breeding: These Tadpoles do not breed at such a young age.
Popularity: These freshwater Tadpoles are rather popular.
Names: This species of Tadpole is unknown to us, they are commonly called the North American Tadpole.
Variations: There are some variations throughout the US.
